Role Profile

We have two exciting opportunities in the District Heating Centre of Excellence (DH CoE) in the Decarbonised Heat & System Support Department. The Decarbonised Heat & System Support Department is new to SEAI and will comprise the transfer of existing functions plus the establishment of the new national District Heating Centre of Excellence. The existing functions comprise of the Decarbonised Heating and Cooling research function, the Single Point of Contact service for consenting in renewable energy projects and the SEAI Sustainable Energy Communities, Schools and RESS programmes. The District Heating Centre Of Excellence (DH CoE) is a National Team, who are committed to delivery of programme areas, which include:

* District Heating (Strategy) - Support and advise on DH policy framework, ensuring sector objectives and outcomes are achieved.
* District Heating (Delivery) - Work closely with the strategy team to ensure sector objectives and outcomes are achieved through the efficient deployment of DH schemes nationally providing guidance and expertise to the sector.

The successful candidates will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of District Heating in Ireland.


Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

* A degree (Level 7 on NFQ) or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or Economics.
* A minimum 3 years’ experience working or equivalent in areas detailed above (can include post-graduate studies).
* Experience of managing projects involving a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills (including report writing, presenting, public speaking) with an ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Well-developed IT skills.


Desirable Requirements

* Postgraduate or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or Economics.
* A good knowledge heat decarbonisation related policy development.
* Experience of working in energy-related policy environment across the public sector, academia or industry.
* Specific expertise in analysis of decarbonising heat in industrial, residential and system wide perspectives.
* Experience of design, installation and or maintenance of heat supply technologies.
* Advanced MS Excel skills.
* Advanced project management skills.
* Work with the Infrastructure Guidelines and commercial experience.
* Experience or knowledge of delivering positive customer experiences.


Eligibility to Work

The SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland. To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate’s application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested. Failure to submit the required evidence, and failure to hold a valid permit/visa during the period of the contract, will result in the application and/or contract of employment being rendered void.
