Home Care Worker - Clare
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is an Ireland where no one goes through dementia alone and where policies and services respond to the person with dementia and their carers, at the times they need support. The ASI is a national non-profit organisation that is person centred, rights-based and grassroots led with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core. The ASI is currently recruiting a Care Worker who will work with our Clare Home Care Service, in Ennis Co. Clare, V95 P9V9. This is a permanent contract working 30 hours per week. Reporting to the Home Care Co-ordinator. The role provides person centred care to people with dementia and supports that address their needs to enhance their quality of life.

Responsibilities
* Provide person centred care to people with dementia and support that enhances quality of life.
* Build trusting relationships with clients and their carers so they feel secure and welcome in the service.
* Assist the Home Care Co-ordinator in the assessment and updating of care plans; carry out care plan activities.
* Provide personal care as needed (meals, toileting, bathing, etc.) and report observations in a timely manner.
* Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients.
* Develop activities with the line manager to enhance the quality of care; assist clients and carers in dealings with other service providers.
* Adhere to Health and Safety policies and maintain service records as directed.
* Promote a positive and safe environment and raise concerns to the Home Care Co-ordinator.
* Attend training opportunities and maintain routine contact with the Home Care Co-ordinator; participate in team and one-to-one meetings.
* Be flexible to take on additional responsibilities and amend the job description if required.
Job Holder Requirements
* Knowledge (Education & Related Experience): Educated to Leaving Certificate or equivalent. FETAC level 5 desirable. Experience in health, social or disability care desirable.
* Skills (Training or Competence): Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; good organisational and observational skills; ability to work as part of a team; training in dementia, care of elderly or related area.
