The Role: The Environmental Regulation function is responsible for the day-to-day management of environmental regulation and compliance.

The function monitors the compliance of the water and wastewater network and treatment works, influences external environmental policy and manages environmental stakeholder relationships.

Environmental Regulation provides expertise to the Uisce Éireann business on influencing environmental policy and managing stakeholders around environmental regulation affecting Uisce Éireann's practices.

The function provides regulatory expertise to the business, including the Senior Leadership Team, in all aspects of environmental regulation.

The team provides support on legislative and regulatory changes that will affect Uisce Éireann policies in the future.

Reporting to HQ Wastewater Compliance Manager, the Wastewater Reporting Technical Lead will be responsible for the co-ordination of national compliance reports and submissions to the EPA and other stakeholders internally and externally as required.

This will require the collation, analysis and reporting on key environmental compliance data, through collaboration with a number of teams and functions across Uisce Éireann.

The preparation and submission of the necessary reports and communication of key compliance messages.

The role will also include assisting in the development of the IT systems and processes to support Uisce Éireanns environmental reporting requirements identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting projects to deliver these improvements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the co-ordination and the submission of National wastewater regulatory reports to the EPA, such as annual environmental reports (AERs), monitoring programme returns etc.
• Work with the various business units within Uisce Éireann to obtain and interpret collated environmental compliance/assessment data.
• Undertake data analysis and trend analysis of compliance and environmental data.
• Support the HQ Wastewater Compliance Managerto ensure a consistent national approach is adopted across all wastewater reporting.
• Co-ordinate the development and reporting of wastewater compliance KPIs.
• Interact with various business units to ensure due consideration is given to compliance requirements in business planning.
• Co-ordinate the development, implementation, standardisation and review of procedures, protocols and reports for wastewater reporting.
• Support the delivery of systems, including IT that are required for appropriate governance of Uisce Éireann's environmental compliance and reporting activities.
• Monitor and report on the performance of compliance activities for different stakeholder audiences.
• Escalate risks and issues to the Wastewater Compliance Manager as appropriate.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Contribute to achieving the objectives & targets of the Environmental Regulation function workplan
• Lead, attend and/or participate in cross functional meetings and working groups as required General Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
• Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
• Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
• Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
• Other duties as required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Relevant third level qualification in Engineering or Science.
• A minimum of 5 years' Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable
• Excellent knowledge and use of IT systems to support environmental reporting, performance monitoring, records maintenance and communication
• Must be aware of the regulators expectations, targets, and quality standards
• Understand how their area links into the rest of Uisce Éireann business and what their obligations are to other parts of the business
• Experience in managing end-to-end processes to ensure delivery meets customer expectations
• Ability to develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally and offer guidance and support to make the right decisions
• Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional and ethical standards with proven ability to deliver results
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
