Sumitomo Mitsui Trust (Ireland) Limited ("SMTIL") is one of the companies that form SuMi TRUST Global Asset Services and is wholly owned by Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, one of the largest financial services groups in Japan. Our reputation in providing innovative solutions to a prestigious client base is well known and respected in the offshore funds industry. Our services include the calculation and reporting of the Net Asset Value for the funds on a daily basis as well as providing Transfer Agency services. This involves processing the applications for subscriptions, redemptions, transfers and switches for the funds as well as issuing the contract notes and regular statements to investors.
What We Are Looking For
We are currently seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic professional to join our IA Department on a temporary basis in the Summer of 2026. The successful candidate will receive invaluable experience and training within this fast paced and challenging environment within the funds industry. They will gain exposure to a wide variety of funds and fund types plus IA processes. This is a challenging role with key responsibilities within the IA Department providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on their own initiative as well as assisting with the team as required.

Department Description
Internal Audit Department ("IAD") of SMTIL was established by the SMTIL Audit Committee (under instruction from the SMTIL Board) to contribute to the robustness of the internal control environment in SMTIL and its subsidiaries. By providing independent, risk-based assurance reviews to the Audit Committee, the IAD was designed to identify control risks, risk mitigations and control gaps.
The objective of IAD is:
To assist the achievement of organisational objectives;
To safeguard company and client assets, as well as company's reputation;
To ensure necessary and appropriate policies and procedures are in place;
To review applicable laws and regulations in regards to auditable entities;
To review appropriateness and adequacy of the internal control environment;
To review appropriateness and adequacy of the risk management function and risk management culture;
To review various aspects of SMTIL Technology;
To assist the Audit Committee in the reliability and integrity of financial and other operating matters;
To review integrity, reliability and timeliness of the regulatory reporting
Role Description
This role will focus on providing the SMTIL IA Department with support in achieving its annual audit plan (risk based) and will involve assistance with the audit planning, execution and reporting. This role will have various tasks but primary aim is the assistance in delivering the audits as per annual IAD plan across multiple departments.
Core Responsibilities:
You will assist in planning and executing audits within various business units.
You will participate in internal department meetings, as well as meetings with the business.
You will perform internal audit controls testing and issue follow-up testing.You will assist with Internal Audit operational tasks such as management of audit status, issue status, audit file preparation and implementation.
Communicate audit discussion items to the auditor in charge and to senior management.
Essential Key Requirements (Experience, Qualifications and Skills):
Related internship experience a plus.
Desirable Key Requirements (Experience, Qualifications and Skills):
Interest in Financial Services including changes to the regulatory and technology landscape.
Career ambition to be an auditor in either external audit or internal audit.
Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative disposition is required.
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within deadlines.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to track multiple projects (2-3) going on at the same time, demonstrating an ability to analyse and prioritize to meet multiple deadlines.
