Role: Plant Engineer Location: Dublin On-site role 12-month contract Here at Hays, we are working with a Pharma client in North Dublin that is currently seeking a Plant Engineer to play a lead role in the day-to-day management of the engineering resources and workload. The Plant Engineer will have responsibility for the maintenance of site-wide GMP and non-GMP equipment across Process, Utility and/or tank Farm areas. Duties Include Becoming the site Technical Expert for their areas of responsibility. Organising and managing service providers. Leading root cause analysis into equipment failures and identifying and implementing corrective actions. Providing end user input to all CapEx projects implemented in their area from an equipment maintenance perspective. Managing and improving the maintenance program and operating SOPs to deliver optimal equipment performance levels. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: *Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on process equipment, utilities, and support systems. *Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation faults. *Work on a range of equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, HVAC, PLC-controlled systems, instrumentation, and utilities. *Ensure minimal downtime by responding promptly to breakdowns and implementing effective solutions. Electrical Shutdown Planning & Support: *Support the planning and coordinate the execution of site electrical shutdowns to perform major maintenance, upgrades, or safety inspections. *Support the development of detailed shutdown procedures, ensuring minimal disruption to production while meeting all safety and regulatory requirements. Continuous Improvement & Safety: *Identify and implement process improvements to enhance equipment performance and reliability. *Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and failure investigations. *Ensure strict adherence to EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) guidelines, performing tasks in a safe and compliant manner. *Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to optimize plant performance. *Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement in MRO processes. *Track and manage engineering records, documentation, and performance metrics. Quality & Compliance Management The Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring that maintenance activities in their area are completed in compliance with the site Quality Management System by: Ensuring that all maintenance activities are documented using GDP in the site maintenance management system. Ensuring that all internal and external resources complete maintenance activities in full compliance with cGMP, especially with respect to training, control of spare parts, change control and SOP's. Ensuring all relevant maintenance SOPs are maintained up to date. Acting as SME for Unplanned Event RCAs into equipment breakdowns or process anomalies and documenting these in the site Quality doc system. Experience Required *Proven experience 3+ years in an Equipment Engineering role within a pharmaceutical, API, biotech, or similar regulated industry. *Process, utilities, maintenance and/or project experience including process abatement systems, HVAC, Purified water, Clean Steam, Refrigeration, Freeze Dryer maintenance, liquid waste management/processing within the pharmaceutical industry. *Relevant maintenance engineering experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry, preferably on an FDA approved site. *Engineering Degree or Technical qualification of 10 years.
