Role Title: Full-stack Technical Lead Developer (Project Delivery & Strategy)
Location: Dublin, Ireland or UK (Hybrid)
Department: ProDev Applications & Labs
About Codec
Codec is an award-winning digital transformation company with big growth ambitions. We are an established full-stack IT consultancy, a local alternative to the Big 4, headquartered in Dublin with offices in Galway, Belfast, London, Poland, and Germany.
We are growing rapidly and have crafted a clear vision of the future, developing our own 'IP' and Accelerators within Codec Labs to complement the Cloud stacks from Microsoft. As we continue to win large-scale government and enterprise contracts, we need delivery leaders who can bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
At Codec, you will bring your unique skills to a world-class organisation, working with great people in a fun, entrepreneurial, and rewarding environment to deliver cutting-edge solutions. You will have the opportunity to shape and drive internally developed products through Codec Labs while engaging directly with high-profile public and private sector clients across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. We provide access to the latest Microsoft technologies, subscriptions, and certifications within a supportive and inclusive company culture that values flexible working. Professional development and growth are prioritised through our Career Paths programme, all supported by a competitive compensation package and generous benefits.
The Role
Codec is seeking a Full-stack Technical Lead Developer who bridges the gap between high-stakes project delivery and technical strategy. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a "Builder-Strategist."
* For the majority of your time, you will act as the "Captain of the Ship" for a flagship client engagement, leading a squad of developers to deliver robust Azure-based solutions. You will remain deeply hands-on, spending a high proportion of your delivery time in the code.
For the remainder of your time, you will step above the specific project to help drive the wider practice forward. This includes contributing to technical presales, building rapid Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to win new business, driving team growth through hiring, and contributing to Codec's reusable "Accelerator" library.
Key Responsibilities
* Technical Authority: Act as the primary technical point of contact and escalation for both the Codec squad and the client. Ensure architecture is agreed upon and knowledge is effectively "rolled down" to the delivery team.
* Hands-on Coding: Lead by example. You will handle the most complex integrations, set coding standards, and maintain high velocity within the C#/.NET and Azure stack.
* Architecture & Design: Translate high-level requirements into implementable designs. Identify efficiencies and potential new workstreams within the existing engagement.
* Engagement & Team Management: Remove blockers for the squad, conduct code reviews, and manage technical stakeholders. Ensure the project remains on the technical roadmap and manage scope creep.
General Strategic Contribution (25%)
* Presales & Commercials: Contribute to technical responses for tenders and produce detailed Statements of Work (SoW). Build functional, rapid PoCs in Azure/C# to demonstrate capability during "Dialogue Sessions."
* Team Growth & Skilling: Lead technical interviews for new hires and mentor junior-to-senior staff. Help define the technical skilling roadmap for the practice.
* Accelerators & IP: Identify opportunities within delivery projects to define repeatable code. Contribute to Codec's proprietary "Accelerator" library to drive future delivery efficiencies.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Consultancy Veteran: Proven experience acting as a lead consultant or technical lead on long-term (12+ months) billable client projects.
* Full-Stack Seniority: 10+ years of development experience with deep expertise in the Microsoft Stack (C#, .NET, Azure).
* Strategic Mindset: Experience writing SoWs, estimating commercial costs, and presenting technical vision to senior stakeholders.
* Rapid Prototyping: Ability to "get your hands dirty" coding functional MVPs/PoCs rapidly to win client trust.
* Client Management: Excellent ability to manage expectations, explain technical risks to non-technical project managers, and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
* Azure Expertise: Deep knowledge of Azure PaaS/Serverless (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Dataverse) and associated cost modelling.
Location & Eligibility
* Hybrid Working: Codec supports hybrid working; however, attendance at Codec offices and client sites (where required) is expected regularly.
* Right to Work: Candidates must be currently located in Ireland or the UK with existing Right to Work approval.
