AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking an Engineering/Design Manager to join the Rail team based in Dublin, Dundalk, Cork, or Galway offices.

We seek a creative, organized, self-motivated, and collaborative individual with experience in delivering major multi-disciplinary rail projects. The candidate should be a Chartered Engineer with experience across all project life cycle stages. You will have the opportunity to lead projects of varying sizes and complexities. The Engineering/Design Manager will be a senior member of the Atkins Ireland Transportation team, providing technical oversight of rail projects through direct involvement or staff mentoring. You will set the technical rail strategy for the team in Ireland and help develop the appropriate team structure for our clients and projects. Additionally, you will offer strategic advice to clients embarking on significant investment programs.
Key responsibilities/requirements:
1. Overall engineering and technical leadership of rail engineering projects in Ireland.
2. Acting as a Design or Engineering Manager on projects.
3. Managing the multi-disciplinary design process.
4. Ensuring design is defined and delivered in accordance with guidance, standards, and client requirements.
5. Serving as the primary technical contact for rail in Ireland.
6. Line management of engineers and discipline leads.
7. Developing technical and quality proposals for new projects.
8. Implementing a robust quality management system.
9. Being Chartered with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional body.
10. Ensuring safe-by-design principles are integrated into the design and delivery processes.
11. Fostering continuous improvement in team and personal performance.
Desirable skills/attributes:
1. Degree-level education (Level 8/9 engineering degree).
2. Postgraduate experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.
3. Experience delivering projects to BIM Level 2 or equivalent.
4. Awareness of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
5. Effective communication skills (written, verbal, presentations).
6. Full driving license.
