The Role
The Civic Amenity Site Attendant is a front‑line, part‑time (16 h per week) operational role, responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the Mohill Civic Amenity Site. Key duties include:
* Complying with the Civic Amenity Site (CAS) License.
* Collecting gate charges, issuing receipts and lodging proceeds.
* Managing access and ensuring all site rules and environmental regulations are followed.
* Ensuring waste is properly sorted and recorded.
* Assisting and advising customers with facility use, addressing queries.
* Maintaining general upkeep, including chemical spraying and weed control.
* Monitoring facility usage and coordinating bin emptying.
* Maintaining the waste register and notifying line managers of incidents.
* Recording required data and supporting environmental/waste initiatives (e.g., Bulky Waste Collection Days).
Additional duties may be delegated as required.
Qualifications
1. Character – good character.
2. Health – fit for regular and efficient service.
3. Citizenship – applicant must hold valid EU/EAA, UK, Swiss citizenship, or meet the specified residency and visa conditions.
4. Education & Experience – sufficient education, relevant experience, Safe Pass Card, current unendorsed Category B driving licence.
* Submission of Safe Pass Card and driving licence copies with application is mandatory.
* Applicants missing a valid Safe Pass Card must obtain it prior to accepting any offer.

* Understanding of the role and civic amenity site operations.
* Relevant experience in similar duties.
* Training/qualifications such as manual handling, Safe Pass.
* Strong safety awareness and decision‑making skills.
* Good organisational, interpersonal and communication abilities.
* Experience dealing with the public, customer focus and willingness to learn new technologies.
* Flexibility to work outside normal hours if required.
* Knowledge of local authority functions.

Principal Terms and Conditions
* Position: part‑time (16 h per week), temporary, pensionable, 2 year fixed term, 6‑month probation.
* Remuneration: €684.25–€765.29 per week, increasing annually with experience (details shown in the original table).
* Hours: Core hours 16 h per week, schedule determined at offer. Friday and Saturday generally used; additional hours may be required during emergencies.
* Probation: 6 months, may be extended at council’s discretion.
* Annual Leave: 80 h per year (pro‑rata for full‑time equivalence).
* Superannuation: Membership of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme with contributions as per statutory amounts.
* Data Protection & Garda Vetting: Applicants will undergo regular vetting and must accept data protection requirements.
* External Employment: Restricted part‑time role – no private practice interfering with duties.
Selection Process
* Step 1: Initial screening for eligibility against Qualifications.
* Step 2: Shortlisting based on submitted application, evidence of knowledge, experience, and skills.
* Step 3: Interview (face‑to‑face or online) to assess competencies, including teamwork, communication and safety awareness.
* Successful candidates may be offered appointment on a panel basis for a 2‑year period.
