The IT Field Support Specialist delivers first- and second-line technical support and on-site IT services across Rexel Ireland's nationwide operations.
Responsible for resolving hardware, software, network and peripheral issues, the role ensures business continuity for 450+ users across 40+ locations by providing timely, reliable troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and installations.
Working closely with the IT Operations Manager and cross-functional teams, the specialist champions user experience and uptime, supports IT projects and rollouts, and maintains documentation and asset records to keep the Company's electrical and energy distribution operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Deliver Level 1 & Level 2 support to internal users — remotely and onsite — ensuring quick, effective resolution of hardware, software, and infrastructure issues.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, access points, and network equipment across a diverse environment.
Support and maintain Windows *****, O365, Active Directory, and core network services (DNS, DHCP, MFA, Security Groups, Shared Mailboxes, Distribution Lists).
Participate in IT projects, working closely with third party vendors, contractors, and internal technical teams.
Manage IT procurement for hardware and peripherals, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective sourcing.
Maintain accurate asset records and keep our Ivanti/Jira ticketing systems up to date.
Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring new starters are fully set up and leavers are securely deprovisioned.
Coordinate hardware repairs and replacements with vendors.
Provide support across multiple technical functions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Travel to branches nationwide as required — sometimes at short notice — with occasional after-hours or weekend work.
Experience & Qualifications
Solid experience supporting Windows desktop environments – minimum 1 year experience
Strong understanding of DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, Windows Command Line, and PowerShell.
Proficiency with Windows *****, O365, and general enterprise support
Cert / Diploma / Degree in IT Systems or similar.
Experience with EDI.
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification.
Familiarity with Ivanti / Jira or similar ITSM platforms.
Previous experience at other enterprise support environment.
Ability to stay calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills —ability to translate tech into plain English.
A proactive, team-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable working within a multi-tiered support structure.
A valid, clean driving licence and willingness to travel
