Youll work closely with Barry ODonovan, the long-time lead developer and project manager, and Nick Hilliard, INEX's CTO and a widely respected IXP expert. What Youll Do You will take ownership of the ongoing development and evolution of IXP Manager: Write clean, maintainable, high-quality PHP code that improves the platform in meaningful ways. Participate actively in the open-source community: GitHub issues, pull requests, and our user mailing list. Contribute to the wider ecosystem - documentation, website improvements, guides, and tooling. Prioritise security in development, and respond efficiently to security disclosures. Enhance and expand the projects automated test coverage, integrating testing more deeply into our development cycle. Tech Stack Youll Work With Backend: Laravel, PHP 8.4+ MySQL + Eloquent ORM Frontend: Tailwind CSS Light-weight static UI with optional modern JS frameworks (Vue, Alpine, Livewire, etc.) Tooling & Equipment: Were flexible - use what youre most productive with. Prior contributions to open-source projects are an advantage. Good understanding of web technologies: CSS, JavaScript, and ideally frameworks such as Tailwind, VueJS, Livewire, or AlpineJS. Good working knowledge of MySQL, Git, and secure web application development. Familiarity with PHP best practices and modern web security principles. Clear, thoughtful technical communication and documentation skills.
