Job Title:Automation Engineer (2-Year Fixed-Term Contract)About the Role:Our client, a leading medical device company in Limerick, is seeking a skilledAutomation Engineeron a 2-year fixed-term contract to join their dynamic engineering team. You will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of automation equipment, ensuring control systems meet exacting project and customer requirements.This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and motivated engineer to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment contributing to cutting-edge medical device manufacturing.Key Responsibilities:Support all stages of project delivery, from initial proposals to equipment handover.Design and develop software for automation equipment to meet customer and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to select and configure components for control systems.Develop PLC and HMI code aligned with customer-specific requirements.Participate in equipment design reviews, both on-site and at customer locations.Work with internal teams to meet project timelines and budget requirements.Provide technical guidance and support to the wider engineering team.Required Experience & Skills:Minimum 3 years' experience in a relevant automation or manufacturing environment.Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley or Siemens platforms).Experience with motion control systems (servomotors, stepper motors, VSDs).Familiarity with electrical and pneumatic schematics.Previous experience in machine building or industrial automation environments is desirable.Experience with robots and machine vision is an advantage.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Personal Attributes:Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ambitious, self-motivated, and hardworking.Committed to continuous learning and personal development.Ability to travel occasionally and hold a full driving licence .For a confidential conversation about the role please apply for the role or contact Owen Clancy at By applying to this job post you agree that Sterling Engineering may process your personal data for recruitment purpose.
