Field Service Diesel Engine Mechanic – Heavy EnginesWe're hiring a senior field diesel mechanic to diagnose, service and overhaul heavy-duty engines (often 1,000+ hp) used across cranes and related applications. This is not a factory role—it's hands-on field service with autonomy, customer interaction, and problem solving.Key responsibilitiesDiagnose, repair and overhaul heavy diesel engines (mechanical/electronic fuel systems, turbocharging, cooling, lubrication, aftertreatment).Execute planned maintenance, rebuilds and post-repair commissioning.Use OEM diagnostics and service literature; produce accurate service reports.Advise customers on repairs, parts and preventive actions; aim for first-time fix.Work safely on active sites; manage tools, van stock and parts returns.Training & development (Germany – OEM)OEM engine training in Germany via specialist academy programmes.Access to running engine test cells and simulators for advanced diagnostics.Progressive modules aligned to large industrial/mobile powertrains.Requirements:Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic/Fitter (Irish-recognised or equivalent).Strong field background with heavy engines—ideally one or more of: Cummins, Liebherr, Caterpillar, MTU, Detroit.Advanced diagnostics/troubleshooting (mechanical & electronic).Excellent English and customer-facing communication.Full, clean driving license; flexibility for nationwide travel and overtime/call-outs.Nice to haveOEM training/credentials on any of the brands above.Experience on crane powertrains or large industrial/mobile plant.Safe Pass/CSCS, MEWP, Rigging/Slinging, Working at Height.What's on offerVery competitive compensation with overtime.OEM training in Germany with exceptional engineers; clear upskilling path.Strong, well-financed employer with a long-term commitment to quality and support.Location:Field-based across Ireland (travel required)Type:Full-time, permanentRole open for all EU candidates
