Meet the team
We are responsible for the Media Production Infrastructure in both TV and Radio.
We are looking for an experienced Broadcast Engineer with a passion for broadcast.
Reporting to the Media Production Infrastructure Manager, you will be required to provide technical project services, 2nd/3rd line issue resolution and technical support within RTÉ's Media Production Infrastructure team.
About the role:
* Develop, manage and support media production infrastructure both in TV and Radio.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
* Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain and optimize Media Production Infrastructure technology.
* Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
* This role requires primarily business hours, however, there is a requirement to fulfil planned media production infrastructure systems maintenance, upgrades and on-call duties outside of normal business hours.
About you:
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within broadcast or media, to include: proven experience in infrastructure engineering, with a focus on (Broadcast related) IT technology and broadcast systems
* A degree in Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* Strong knowledge of, IP networking and broadcast related infrastructure.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
* Strong understanding of emerging technologies in broadcast, including cloud-based production platforms and virtualised workflows. Knowledge of key industry standards and protocols, such as SMPTE 2110, AES67, AOIP, SDI, HTTPS, NDI, RIST and SRT.
* Strong understanding of Windows and Linux based operating systems.
* Strong understanding of Radio and TV media production signal paths and workflows.
Nice to have
* CCNA or equivalent certification
* Knowledge of AVID systems and workflows
* Knowledge of EVS Cerebrum
* Familiarity with broadcast automation systems
This position will be located primarily in Dublin with travel to regional sites and abroad from time to time. The appointment will be made on a full-time ongoing employment contract on the Senior Broadcast Engineer salary scale from €61,707 to €74,713 gross per annum.
Any contract offer will be subject to the applicant's legal permission to work in Ireland.
This role requires primarily business hours, however, there is a requirement to fulfil planned infrastructure systems maintenance, upgrades etc. and on-call duties outside of normal business hours and for which an allowance is payable. A flexible and collaborative approach to work is therefore essential.
