Resident EngineerRoughan & O'Donovan is looking to recruit an experienced resident engineer for a 24-month contract position on the Liffey Valley to City Centre BusConnects Core Bus Corridor project.Location: DublinJob type: Fixed-term contractDuration: 24 months Salary: CompetitiveAbout the roleAs part of the designer's site representative team, you will supervise the construction of the proposed bus corridor and enhanced walking and cycling infrastructure between Liffey Valley and the city centre. You will be based on site for the duration of the contract.The works primarily involve:accommodation worksconstruction of retaining walls and other similar structuresutilities diversions and installationdrainage workstraffic signal coordination at junctions and pedestrian crossingsroad pavement construction and resurfacingcycle track construction, including separator kerbs and cycle track pavementfootpath reconstruction and reinstatementDutiesYour duties will include:assisting the designer's site representative in the fulfilment of his/her dutiesmonitoring the execution of the works in accordance with the contract requirementscarrying out daily site inspections of workmanship, witnessing testing and recording daily site activitiesraising and agreeing the close-out of non-conformance reportshighlighting design issues and liaising with the design team on any design-related mattersreviewing and agreeing inspection and test plans with the contractorreviewing testing records for compliancerepresenting the designer at site meetings and managing technical queriesEssentialA degree in engineering (Level 8 qualification in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)At least five years' satisfactory postgraduate experience of engineering work, including not less than two years' experience of civil engineering work and the delivery of road/active travel infrastructural projects in an urban environment, including structures, drainage, utilities, road construction, reinstatement and control of roadworksA high standard of technical training and experience, including administrative experience of contracts, the roles and duties of the respective parties, contractual obligations and timeframesExperience of monitoring the contractor for compliance with health and safety regulationsKnowledge and awareness of health and safety legislationGood organisational skillsA strong work ethicExcellent written and oral communication skillsFluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written EnglishDesirableExperience working as a resident engineer on infrastructure projectsCompetency in the use of Microsoft Suite and AutoCADCompetency in reading and understanding plans and specificationsExperience in implementing procedures and systems for quality control on site Experience in preparing clear and concise reportsChartered engineer status (CEng, MIEI or equivalent)About Roughan & O'DonovanRoughan & O'Donovan (ROD) is one of Ireland's leading civil, structural and environmental engineering consultancies.
