Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.The RoleThe Trainer is responsible for ensuring that all staff arecompetent and confident in delivering safe, high-quality careto adults and children with intellectual disabilities. This includes coordination and delivery ofmandatory and clinical training.This role ensures that the organisation meetsHIQA regulations, HSE standards, and best practice in clinical education, so that staff are equipped toenable people supported to live safe, fulfilling lives.Key ResponsibilitiesTraining Coordination & DeliveryDevelop, organise, and deliver mandatory training programs, including medication, clinical skills, first aid, and other relevant trainingsEnsure all training meets HSE guidance and HIQA standardsMaintain accurate records of staff training and competency assessmentsProvide ongoing support and mentorship to staff to build clinical confidenceCompliance & GovernanceMonitor staff compliance with mandatory training requirementsSupport audit preparation for HIQA inspections and internal governance processesContribute to the development and review of policies and procedures related to clinical trainingCollaboration & Staff SupportWork closely with line managers, HR, and service managers to identify training needsProvide advice and guidance on clinical best practiceSupport new staff during induction and probation periods on clinical skillsProfessional DevelopmentKeep up to date with current clinical practice, HIQA standards, HSE guidelines, and adult/child intellectual disability care developmentsShare knowledge and skills across the organisationQualifications & ExperienceRegistered Nurse (RPN / RN) with An Bord Altranais / NMBIExperience working with adults and/or children with intellectual disabilitiesExperience in clinical training, education, or staff developmentKnowledge of HIQA regulations and HSE guidelinesStrong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skillsSkills & CompetenciesAbility to deliver engaging, practical, and relevant training sessionsKnowledge of adult learning principles and competency-based assessmentsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work collaboratively across multiple teamsCommitment to person-centred, safe, and inclusive careFor an informal discussion, please contact Cristina Mendes, on Closing date for application is the 16thof February 2026.
