The role
Our client, Dungarvan Transport Limited, based in Colligan, Co. Waterford, is seeking Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Drivers for immediate start at their facility in Garryduff, Colligan, Co. Waterford, X35 YA31.Qualifications1-3 years of previous experience as a HGV Driver.Hold an equivalent category CE or C1E driving licence recognized by the Road Safety Authority and the appropriate regulatory authority in another jurisdiction.No minimum academic requirements.Further training will be provided on‑the‑job as required.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely operate HGVs, including loading and unloading cargo.Deliver goods to specified locations, ensuring timely arrival and good condition.Conduct daily vehicle checks and routine maintenance reporting to ensure roadworthiness.Comply with all driving regulations, including EU and Irish transport laws (e.g., tachograph and driver’s hours regulations).Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery notes and logbooks.Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, and team members to resolve delivery issues.Follow safety protocols for transporting hazardous materials (if applicable).Ensure the security of cargo during transit.Parallel‑park vehicles, practice emergency stops, and supervise loading/unloading of cargo.Drive a cargo truck in both urban and rural environments.Essential Knowledge and SkillsEffective perception of the transport environment, mechanical components of vehicles, and road traffic laws.Road transport legislation, types of cargo, and vehicle cargo capacity.Anticipation of foreseeable problems on the road, control of vehicle performance, and interpretation of traffic signals.Maintenance of concentration for long periods, operation of GPS systems, and reading of maps.Compensation and Work DetailsAnnual remuneration: €36,605.00Pay rate: €18.05 per hourWork location: Dungarvan Transport Limited, Garryduff, Colligan, Co.
