Facilities Project EngineerLocation: Athlone, Co WestmeathDuration: 12 months (contract)Hours: 39 hours per week (08:00 to 16:00)Overview of the roleProvide technical support to the Life Science facility through execution on new facilities set up, kit‑out, commissioning & improvements, and optimize facility and production layouts and flows.Day‑to‑Day ResponsibilitiesLead plant engineering and corporate programs including mechanical integrity, energy conservation and refrigerant compliance.Implement project plans for new or existing equipment and facilities.Support installation and repair of equipment to ensure continuous safe operation.Manage facilities projects from inception to completion, including appointment, supervision and control of design and installation contractors.Develop and produce management information for Facilities functions to aid performance enhancement and strategic development.Coordinate contractors, ensuring effectiveness, efficiency and quality control.Propose new/alternative uses for space and furniture layouts and advise on combinations of suitable design to maximise utilisation.Develop and control grounds, building and plant maintenance programmes.Maintain a healthy and safe work environment.Promote health and safety awareness with other functions/departments.Plan and execute plant, office and production equipment layout & flow.Work with Manufacturing Engineering to optimise production equipment, tooling and layout.Update and maintain plant layout and utility/service drawings.Ensure new machines/equipment are installed and commissioned efficiently.Support installation/operation/process qualification of new equipment to the site.Prepare technical documentation such as SOPs, safety programmes, validation protocols, technical reports, engineering calculations, change controls.Present technical data to internal/external audit and inspection groups.Comply with all EHS policies and relevant documentation.Required Skills and QualificationsMinimum of a degree in a technical discipline with 3+ years of experience in a similar role, or a diploma with 10+ years of experience.Prior experience in the life science industry is preferable.Experience managing and operating a clean‑room environment and building management systems.Maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC, compressed air, water systems, preventative maintenance scheduling, process gases, power distribution, fire suppression systems.Established knowledge of cGMP and safety standards for clean‑room/controlled environments.Ability to share technical expertise with colleagues, express information clearly and concisely.Strong problem‑solving abilities and ability to evaluate alternative approaches.Team‑orientated, committed, energetic and positive attitude.Proven reliability and efficient time management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong computer skills.Ability to work to tight project timelines and within approved budgets.Excellent initiative and adaptability to changing priorities.Additional InformationIf you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non‑EU/EEA national, you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.
