Summary
We are seeking an experienced employment and individual income tax manager with global expertise to serve as the subject matter expert across tax technical positions, external and internal audits, risk accruals, SOX compliance, RSU/stock and benefit‑reporting, and M&A transactions. This role will be a key strategic partner, providing authoritative guidance to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient employment and mobility tax operations globally. In this role, you will operate independently in a deadline‑focused environment, develop and implement AI‑enabled tax solutions, and collaborate proactively with cross‑functional teams across the organization.
PayMeta Tax Manager Responsibilities
Problem‑Solving & Project Leadership: Identify complex tax issues, develop effective solutions, and lead both tax and technology/AI‑focused initiatives to advance the PayMeta Tax team's goals and strategic priorities
Global Employment Tax Management: Supervise all employment tax matters across a global portfolio of countries, including technical position evaluations and implementations, leadership and employee inquiries, internal and external audit representation, global payroll health checks, risk accrual assessments, and SOX compliance requirements
Global Mobility Tax Management: Manage tax services programs for mobile employees, including international transferees, new hires, and assignees, ensuring compliance and seamless support across all cross‑border employment arrangements
Vendor Management: Supervise vendor relationships, monitor performance and employee satisfaction, define key performance indicators, and hold vendors accountable to technology roadmaps, enhancements, and deliverables
Financial Oversight: Negotiate contract terms, drive financial forecasting and budgeting, and manage invoice review and approvals to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with business objectives
Tax Authority Relations, Tax Controversy Matters & Innovation: Represent Meta in audits and inquiries from global tax and revenue authorities, while developing AI‑enabled best practices to drive efficiency and support strategic tax operations
Cross‑Functional Partnership: Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to align on team strategy, drive operational excellence, and deliver on key PayMeta Tax responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Experience related to Restricted Stock Units & Stock Option compensation tax reporting, M&A transaction consideration and employee benefit tax treatment
Demonstrated experience in managing both external & internal tax audits
Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance or related field
History of working independently and leading cross‑functional initiatives & projects
Experience in mobility tax programs & policies and the ability to effectively & concisely communicate tax positions to a wide‑ranging audience across Meta leadership, HR/Recruiting, Legal, Finance, mobile employees and candidates
7+ years of experience in employment tax, mobility tax and/or payroll tax programs & compliance with a global company or Big 4 accounting firm
In depth knowledge of both employment tax and mobility tax positions, programs and policies, along with vendor management and financial budgeting & planning experience
Substantial vendor & financial/budgeting management experience
Experience in tax regulations on a global basis, including research, interpretation and implementation, along with Sarbanes‑Oxley Act compliance knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
