Overview

The Learning Leader - Languages - POL 2.5 is a tenured Position of Leadership for the period 27 January 2026 to 26 January 2027. It has a teaching load and is in conjunction with an ongoing teaching appointment. Padua College provides a contemporary Catholic secondary co-educational environment for students on the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Bay. The college was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and is named after St Anthony of Padua. In partnership with students, staff, parents, parishes and the wider community, Padua College upholds the Christian faith in the Catholic tradition. Overview of the role

The Learning Leader explicitly connects high-quality teaching to student engagement, successful learning, and positive student outcomes. At Padua, the Learning Leader takes a whole College view. The Learning Leader collaborates with the Director of Innovation, Instructional Coaches, Learning and Pedagogy Leaders and staff within their team to ensure the rigour of individual courses, the quality of teaching across all studies in the learning area, and reflection of Padua College’s Learning and Teaching Framework. They guide, support, develop, and strengthen the attributes, knowledge and skills of staff to ensure every student’s learning positions them for success. The Learning Leader works with a large and experienced team focused on helping students develop knowledge, skills and capabilities for active engagement in their future pathways. The Learning Leader is a key member of the College’s Learning and Teaching Team and reports directly to the Vice Principal – Learning and Teaching.


Major areas of responsibility

* Leading curriculum and program development and leading innovation in learning design, including documentation, implementation and evaluation of units and subjects within the Learning Area, that align with the VCAA Curriculum, Padua’s Learning Principles of the Learning and Teaching Framework and Padua’s Instructional Model;
* Overseeing course provision to ensure exemplary pedagogy engages students in rigorous and relevant learning experiences that enhance opportunities for success by embedding the Learning Principles of Padua’s Learning and Teaching Framework and Padua’s Instructional Model within the Learning Area;
* Overseeing the learning and teaching program and providing a formative environment for improved teacher performance in the Learning Area that is consistent with the AITSL Standards, Padua’s Learning and Teaching Framework and Padua’s Instructional Model;
* Performing the duties required to administer the Learning Area effectively; and
* Performing other duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.

Teaching staff support: Teachers are supported by the Learning Leaders, the Assistant Heads of Campus (Learning and Pedagogy), Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus), and the Vice Principal (Learning and Teaching) across the College in curriculum development, implementation and teaching. They are also supported by the House Coordinators, Assistant Heads of Campus (Student Wellbeing and Growth), the Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus) and the Vice Principal – Students in pastoral care and discipline and in the smooth management of classes.


Salary remuneration

According to the CEMEA 2022, $79,589.00 - $118,063.00 per annum, plus 12% superannuation. POL 2.5 is $7,978.00 per annum.
