In this role, you will be a key contributor to delivering repeatable, secure, and scalable automation solutions that enhance operational consistency across their global infrastructure.The position sits within their Platform Engineering team, which leads infrastructure-as-code adoption and modern DevOps practices. The successful candidate will work with colleagues across EMEA, North America, and other regions, supporting the expansion of hybrid cloud capabilities and contributing to the global automation roadmap.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain automation workflows and infrastructure-as-code modules using Ansible, Terraform, and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.Integrate automation into the organisation’s internal developer platform and toolchains, including VMware, Azure, and GitHub workflows.Standardise automation frameworks and templates to ensure reuse and consistent delivery across infrastructure teams.Collaborate with engineering, security, and operations teams to identify manual processes and replace them with robust automated solutions.Deliver against the Infrastructure Automation Programme roadmap, meeting agreed KPIs.Ensure automation solutions meet security, compliance, and operational governance standards.Act as a technical escalation point for complex incidents and participate in out-of-hours support when required.Partner with architecture and vendor teams to scope and recommend both tactical fixes and long-term improvements.Required Skills and ExperienceExtensive hands-on experience with Ansible and Terraform in enterprise environments.Proficiency in Python and PowerShell scripting.Familiarity with Git-based workflows (GitHub or GitLab).Strong understanding of infrastructure components including compute, storage, networking, and virtualisation.Working knowledge of VMware and Azure cloud services.Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.Ability to operate effectively in process-driven, change-controlled environments.Strong collaboration skills across teams and geographies.Desired Qualifications and AttributesDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.Certifications such as Terraform Associate, Red Hat Ansible, or Azure Administrator.Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.Proactive and solutions-focused, able to manage competing priorities under pressure.Impact of the RoleThe role will directly influence an automation strategy supporting more than 3,000 servers and services worldwide.
