The Role & What You Will Be Doing The Packaging Operations Director is responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and timely packaging of pharmaceutical products.
This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance, driving continuous improvement, and leading a high-performing team to meet business goals across quality, safety, cost, and delivery metrics.
Making a Difference With this role, you will make an impact by overseeing daily packaging operations including planning, execution, and performance while ensuring compliance with GMP, regulatory standards, and other relevant requirements.
You will maintain audit readiness for regulatory, internal, and customer inspections, and approve packaging component artwork for new product introductions.
Deviation, CAPA, and change control processes within the packaging function will be managed by you to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.
As a leader, you will develop and lead packaging teams, conduct performance reviews, and manage training needs to foster a high-performance culture promoting accountability, engagement, and workforce flexibility through cross-training and career development.
Implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance methodologies will drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as yield, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), cycle time, RFT, and schedule adherence will be monitored and improved under your guidance.
Collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams on equipment troubleshooting, upgrades, and ensuring preventative maintenance and qualification compliance will also be expected.
A strong safety culture will be promoted by ensuring adherence to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and leading safety incident investigations with corrective follow-ups.
Cross-functional engagement with Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Planning will be required to align operations and contribute to initiatives like product launches and capacity planning.
About Your Skills & Experience
For this role, we seek a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills, and experiences:
* Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred)
* 5+ years' experience in a GMP environment, including 3+ years in a leadership role
* Demonstrated experience managing audits, compliance, and continuous improvement projects
* In-depth understanding of packaging processes and equipment
* Strong leadership, communication, and team development capabilities
* Analytical thinking, decision-making, and root cause analysis
* Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
* Proficiency in MS Office, MES, ERP (SAP), and Trackwise or similar systems
