Senior Civil Engineer – Amey Consulting
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Civil Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team in Dublin.
The role is a permanent position with a standard 37.5 hours per week. We offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part‑time and flexible patterns, and are open to discussing options that match your needs.
About the Role
As a Senior Engineer in the Highways team, you will lead junior engineers in designing and delivering a variety of highway and public transport projects, including cycleways, greenways, junction improvements, highway drainage/SUDs, bus priority measures, pavement schemes, maintenance programmes, and major roads or bridges. You will work on local projects in Dublin and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Lead the delivery of scheme design and support the Design Team Leader on various duties including surveys and inspections.
Prepare feasibility and other technical reports.
Assist with planning, programming and cost estimation.
Produce design schedules and drawings, and review and amend design documents.
Develop specifications and support Graduate Engineers and technicians.
Work to programme to deliver designs on time.
Drive effective health and safety practices within your team.
Liaise with clients and community partners to ensure solutions are suitable for buildability and maintainability.
Prepare technical reports such as feasibility/option and assessment reports.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Developed experience and expertise within the Highways/Civil engineering field, usually gained in an engineer role or equivalent.
Comprehensive knowledge of design processes and procedures relevant to civil engineering.
Ability to produce or oversee technically sound Highways engineering solutions that comply with technical standards and client requirements.
Experience in project‑related tasks involving health, safety and welfare.
Successful completion of the initial professional development leading to either Incorporated or Chartered status, or an equivalent professional licence.
Demonstrable commitment to the professional review or end‑point assessment to achieve Incorporated or Chartered status or equivalent licence.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent further learning.
IEng or CEng status is desirable.
