Overview An established client is seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant to support the Finance function in delivering accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, and commercial finance assistance across the business. The role will focus on core accounting activities, budgeting, audit support, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making. Role Purpose The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting and compliance activities, and contributing to financial planning and analysis across the organisation. The role also works closely with operational and commercial teams to support reporting requirements, capital projects, inventory analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Prepare monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records. Perform variance analysis on financial and operational performance. Support audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements. Assist with tax reporting and compliance activities. Accounts Receivable & Credit Control Manage accounts receivable processes and customer account administration. Process cash receipts and customer statements. Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts. Prepare and review credit note reporting. Support invoicing and cost recovery processes. Cash Flow & Banking Monitor and manage cash flow activities. Maintain banking reconciliations and related controls. Liaise with financial institutions regarding facilities, audits, and financial documentation. Support financing and leasing administration where required. Budgeting & Financial Planning Assist in the preparation and monitoring of operational and capital expenditure budgets. Review capital expenditure requests and maintain associated records. Maintain fixed asset registers and CAPEX tracking. Support financial analysis for investment and development projects. Inventory & Operational Finance Process inventory-related financial transactions. Participate in inventory review activities and stock analysis. Conduct material usage and variance analysis. Support costing and financial evaluation for operational projects. Tax, Compliance & Controls Prepare and submit VAT returns and related filings. Support grant applications, tax claims, and compliance reporting where applicable. Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness. Ensure accurate and organised financial documentation is maintained. Business Analysis & Reporting Produce financial analysis and management reporting. Support operational reporting and performance analysis. Prepare customer-related financial reporting where required. Coordinate reporting and circulation of management information. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Support Support operational and commercial finance discussions. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business objectives. Maintain effective communication and reporting relationships across departments. Skills & Experience Required Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent). Strong experience in financial accounting and month-end reporting. Experience with budgeting, reconciliations, and financial analysis. Knowledge of VAT, audit preparation, and financial compliance requirements. Advanced Excel skills; reporting and data analysis experience advantageous. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment would be beneficial.
