Senior Grade Psychologist Role Overview

This role offers a challenging opportunity to provide high-quality psychology services to children and young people (0–18 years) and their families. You will work within a dynamic interdisciplinary framework, delivering expert assessments and interventions through a family-centred approach.

The key responsibilities of this position include planning and managing a complex caseload, providing clinical supervision and mentorship, taking a lead role in service planning and development, delegating tasks appropriately, fostering a culture of evidence-based practice, representing the psychology discipline at meetings and conferences, and acting as a mandated person under the Children First National Guidelines.

* Assessment and Intervention: Plan and manage a complex caseload, providing expert assessments and interventions that meet the needs of children and young people.
* Clinical Supervision and Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to staff grade psychologists, assistant psychologists, and students to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
* Service Planning and Development: Take a lead role in planning and developing services that meet the needs of children and young people, working closely with other disciplines to ensure a comprehensive approach.
* Delegation and Support: Delegate tasks appropriately and provide support to junior staff members to ensure they are able to perform their roles effectively.
* Evidence-Based Practice: Foster a culture of evidence-based practice, contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives to ensure that services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
* Representation: Represent the psychology discipline at internal and external meetings and conferences, ensuring that the voice of psychology is heard and valued.


Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience:

* A recognised university degree or diploma with 1st or 2nd class honours in Psychology and accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
* An Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology.
* Demonstrate competence in the Care Group applied for and be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* No less than five years' satisfactory post-graduate experience in professional psychology.
