Please discuss your flexibility during the interview process.Zurich Dublin Technology Center is seeking a Platform Automation Engineer who will:Ensure the availability, performance, and monitoring of services and products, managing change and capacity to support reliability and scalability.Develop integration components, data models, and APIs to improve interoperability and streamline system functionality.Contribute to project and product planning, focusing on reliability, performance, and reducing operational toil.Your RoleYour main responsibilities as a Platform Automation Engineer will include, but are not limited to:Designing, coding, testing, and delivering software to automate manual operational tasks, reducing overhead and increasing efficiency.Troubleshooting priority incidents and facilitating post-mortems to ensure permanent resolution.Collaborating with Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and application development teams throughout the lifecycle to develop reliable and scalable software with minimal refactoring.Analyzing application and infrastructure patterns and data to support better Service Level Objectives (SLOs).Contributing to team delivery by working on complex tasks to high standards and actively learning and teaching new skills.Balancing operational and engineering work for optimal team efficiency.Participating in rotational support coverage as needed.Coaching team members and leading teams when necessary.Monitoring/Observability SpecialtyDeveloping best-in-class monitoring frameworks for end-to-end flow monitoring and noiseless alerting to ensure accurate and actionable telemetry.Creating automated solutions for software and product upgrades, change management, and release management to enhance stability, speed, and reliability.Data Protection/Backup/Recovery SpecialtyDeveloping and implementing resilient data protection solutions, focusing on automated backup and recovery to safeguard critical assets in cloud environments.Building advanced cloud-native mechanisms for data integrity and protection, including cyber vault isolation and streamlined, code-driven recovery processes for seamless resilience.Your Skills and ExperienceYour skills and qualifications should include:Automation EngineeringExperience with tools and technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and other observability platforms (e.g., Amazon CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Honeycomb).Skilled in developing automated tools, systems, and services across multiple technology domains to improve efficiency and reliability.Experience in building and deploying software-based infrastructure components (e.g., cloud platforms, container systems, compute, storage, and network services).SREExperience troubleshooting system-level components, ensuring stability and resolving complex issues efficiently.Contributing to performance monitoring and capacity management tools to enhance operational visibility and responsiveness.Hands-on experience developing and managing automation capabilities with an SDLC mindset, creating scalable solutions for monitoring, observability, and data protection.Expertise in creating automated frameworks for telemetry, alerting, and secure data handling across cloud and on-premises environments.Business KnowledgeStrong understanding of reliability and production management, focusing on maintaining high availability and stability.Risk-aware mindset with knowledge of operational risks in financial institutions, applying this insight to develop resilient and compliant solutions.Promotes continuous improvement through proactive process and system enhancements.ExperienceExperience with system and software security (SSO, Kerberos, LDAP, Windows AD, etc.) ensuring robust identity and access management.Applying engineering principles to production management to support scalable and efficient operations.Proven track record in automation, reducing manual work and improving workflow productivity and consistency.Additional InformationThe primary work location is Dublin Technology Centre, Trident House, Blackrock.
