Management Accountant - Commercial & Operational Focus
Newly created role, Irish logistics business, high visibility
FRS Recruitment is currently supporting a well-established Irish logistics and transport company that is investing heavily in its finance capability as part of a significant growth phase.
They have created a new Management Accountant position for someone who wants to move beyond traditional reporting and play a genuine role in how the business performs commercially.
This is a role for someone who wants to understand how the business actually works, how money is made, where margin is lost, and how better data can change decisions.
Why this role exists
The business operates across several business units with complex, high-volume operations. The data is there, but it is fragmented.
They now want a commercially minded Management Accountant who can pull this together and provide meaningful insight across operations, pricing, cost control and performance.
What you'll be doing
You will work closely with operations, transport, warehousing and commercial teams, translating operational activity into financial insight.
Your focus will be on profitability, margin protection and decision support rather than statutory reporting.
This includes analysing performance by customer, contract, route, vehicle and service type, supporting pricing and contract reviews, and providing clear explanations of why performance is changing.
Who this will suit
This will suit a Management Accountant who enjoys being close to the business and is comfortable challenging assumptions using data.
You will likely have experience in logistics, transport, supply chain or a similarly operational environment, and be confident working with large volumes of operational data.
Strong Excel skills and the ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders are essential.
Exposure to ERP, TMS or WMS systems, and experience supporting pricing, tenders or contract costing, will be a strong advantage.
Qualified or part-qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) will be considered.
