Our Client, a leading provider of bespoke automation solutions to the medical device industry is seeking an experienced
Automation Engineer (Controls)
to join their growing Controls Engineering team in Cork.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on highly advanced, custom-built manufacturing equipment for global medical technology clients. The successful candidate will contribute to the full lifecycle of control system development — from concept to commissioning — while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Design and develop
PLC, HMI, SCADA, Robotics, Motion, and Vision systems
for complex automated machines.
* Develop system architectures, process flows, and
software design specifications
.
* Program, test, and commission
machine control software
in line with project requirements.
* Ensure designs comply with CE marking, electrical safety, and client-specific standards.
* Create and review
technical and validation documentation
in line with regulatory requirements.
* Specify and source suitable
control system components
for automation projects.
* Support
on-site equipment commissioning
, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
* Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers throughout project lifecycles.
* Participate in the development and refinement of
control system standards
and best practices.
* Engage with customers to understand requirements and provide technical support throughout delivery.
Job Requirements:
* Degree (Level 8) in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in
controls or automation engineering
, preferably in a regulated industry.
* Strong hands-on experience with
PLC and HMI/SCADA programming
, ideally using
Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Omron platforms
.
* Familiarity with
robotics, motion control, machine vision
, and
pneumatics
is essential.
* Experience working with
robot systems
such as KUKA or Fanuc is a strong advantage.
* Solid understanding of
GAMP, ISA88/ISA95, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance
.
* Proven ability to produce and review technical documentation for regulated environments.
* Willingness and ability to travel for site-based commissioning when required.
* Full clean driving license.
