OverviewThe purpose of the post of the CPC (Midwifery) will be to guide and support student midwives (pre and post-registration) and staff in assigned clinical areas to ensure that the clinical placement meets the requirements of the education programme with regards to planned experiences and outcomes.The CPC (Midwifery) works with the Midwifery Practice Development Department to support students in all learning environments including those beyond the parent hospital.While the post is primarily concerned and designated to supporting post registration and pre-registration midwifery education, the post holder is expected to liaise with other professionals involved in the whole continuum of midwifery education and with a broader teams involved in multidisciplinary professional education and development.Essential Criteria Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:Be registered in the Midwifery Division of the Register of Nurses and Nurses kept by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered.ANDBe registered in a Division of the register in which the application is being made.ANDHave successfully completed post registration programme of study as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications NFQ) major academic award at a minimum of a Level 8 (60 ECTS) or higher relevant to the area of education or a health related subject of care prior to application.ORCan provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of 60 ECTs credits equivalent to a minimum of a Level 8 or higher standard, relevant to the area of education or a health related subject of care prior to application.ANDHave a minimum of 5 years post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 5 years full time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made, of which 2 years must be in a practice learning environment.ANDHave completed a Teaching and Assessing or a Preceptorship in Practice course, programme or module.ANDHave the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.ANDDemonstrate evidence of continuing professional development(b)Candidates must possess the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her Professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice2. Annual Registration (i) Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the appropriate/relevant Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) for the role AND(ii) Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).HealthA candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
