Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist

Overview

The Infant Mental Health Specialist is part of a team that serves those who are pregnant and their children through age 6 who are at risk for the development of emotional disturbance due to risk factors associated with socioeconomic status, education, intelligence, and illness in the parent or child. They provide intensive services to families, parents, and children who have multiple service needs and access to an array of mental health services and supports.

As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, CNS Healthcare offers a mission to serve the people of our communities. The Infant Mental Health Specialist works with pregnant clients and children up to age 6, providing intensive services to families who have multiple service needs and access to mental health supports. This community-based role will render at least 80% of services in the beneficiary's home or other agreed-upon community-based location.


Compensation

The starting pay for this position is $57,600 - $74,000 for limited licensed candidates, and $61,850 - $80,150 annual salary for fully licensed candidates. Compensation is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

Job Responsibilities

* Provide thorough and complete assessment, at intake and annually, to assess the client’s history and identify treatment needs.
* Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals. Modify person-centered plans as needed.
* Make contact with assigned clients in the community at least twice weekly (or per IPOS) to ensure appropriate level of care.
* Develop a person-centered plan with each assigned client and review the plan at stated levels.
* Provide treatment modalities to clients and families as indicated in the treatment plan.
* Provide basic coordination of services for each assigned client as needed.
* Complete appropriate assessments and functional tools within IMH (ASQ, DECA, PECFAS, DC 0-3, etc.).
* Provide crisis intervention when needed; complete lethality assessments as indicated.
* Document treatment provided to clients and families accurately and timely per policy.
* Meet productivity standards and maintain utilization review score of 85% or higher.
* Maintain clinical knowledge through readings, in-service trainings, and other activities with supervisor guidance. Complete at least 24 hours of in-service training to maintain CMHP credentials.
* Write clear, concise reports and formulate/implement effective treatment plans.
* Provide transportation as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required

* Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy
* State licensure: LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC, LPC, LLMFT, LMFT, or LLP
* Obtain a waiver within 1 month of hire; apply for endorsement Level II within 2 years of hire
* Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
* Reliable transportation and current proof of auto insurance
* Two years clinical experience in individual and group psychotherapy using cognitive behavioral techniques under clinical supervision
* Experience with all age groups including children; solution-focused brief therapy; substance abuse and co-occurring disorders treatment; stages of change and/or motivational interviewing
* Basic knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy and understanding of substance use and co-occurring disorders treatment
* Effective communication, discretion, and professional demeanor
* Strong time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, collaboration and crisis intervention skills
* Forward thinking and initiative to achieve department goals
* Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
* Respect for cultural and ethnic differences

Preferred

* At least 3 years of experience
