Job Title: Learning and Development Specialist
Waterford Intellectual Disability Association are currently recruiting for an Instructor to join their team in Day Services.
* Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement tailored programmes suitable to the individual needs and abilities of service users.
* Provide supervision, guidance and support to services users and facilitate a collaborative learning environment.
* Ensure the development, implementation, review and evaluation of programmes for services users based on their needs and wishes.
* Identify, develop and participate in community-based activities with service users.
* Recognize opportunities for formal and informal training for service users.
* Procure relevant materials for programme delivery.
* Engage with parents, advocates, and multidisciplinary teams as necessary.
* Attend client review meetings and other relevant meetings as requested.
* Collaborate with outside agencies when required.
* Promote and adopt a philosophy of care.
* Compile documentation and reports pertaining to service user files, including accident and incident reports.
* Generate reports for multidisciplinary teams or other parties as needed.
* Complete risk assessments.
* Assist service users with personal care as appropriate.
* Manage medication effectively.
* Confidently manage challenging behaviors.
* Understand, familiarise and follow all Waterford Intellectual Disability Association policies and procedures relevant to your role.
* Undertake driving duties as required.
Requirements:
* Hold a Level 8 qualification in Teaching, Training and Development, Level 7 in Applied Social Studies/Social Care/Psychology or equivalent discipline.
* Have a minimum of two years of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
* Experience in service planning and sourcing activities for services is highly desirable.
* Hold a full clean driving license.
* Must have the right to work in Ireland.
