Purpose of the role:
The Clinical Specialist Radiographer (CSR), working alongside another US CSR, will oversee the Ultrasound department at TUH, ensuring smooth operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures
* Work effectively as part of a team delivering high-quality ultrasound services
* Develop and update protocols and patient information leaflets
* Lead and manage the ultrasound service, including resource awareness
* Follow professional guidelines set by the Irish Institute of Radiographers and Radiation Therapists
* Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and standards related to ionising radiation and safety
* Report incidents in NIMS, ensuring best practices
* Support recruitment, training, rostering, and leadership of staff
* Coordinate staff rotation and participate in hospital-wide radiology duties
* Identify postgraduate training needs and participate in continuing education and research
* Participate in departmental audits and ensure infection control protocols
* Manage equipment service contracts, report faults, and schedule maintenance
* Contribute to equipment procurement and quality assurance programs
* Optimize operational processes for resource efficiency and statutory compliance
* Maintain professional behaviour aligned with hospital values
* Foster positive relationships with all service delivery disciplines
* Plan work schedules for effective resource deployment and adapt to case volume changes
* Lead changes in work practices and introduce new technologies
* Implement case volume and mix standards in consultation with clinicians
* Supervise stock and supplies, investigate mishaps and complaints
* Facilitate postgraduate education in collaboration with relevant colleges
* Participate in staff education and training
* Attend relevant meetings and keep staff informed of developments
* Assist in financial management and budget preparation
* Lead by example to motivate and develop the team, ensuring open communication
* Participate in mandatory training and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
* Diploma from the College of Radiographers, or BSc in Radiography (Level 8), or equivalent
* Minimum 6 years post-qualification clinical experience
* Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty recognized by IIRRT, with at least 4 years of practical experience
* State registration with CORU
Desirable Skills:
* Supervisory skills
* Familiarity with NIMIS platform
* Experience in acute hospital settings

* Full-time, permanent, pensionable position
* 29 days annual leave, from 1st April to 31st March
* Work hours: 35 hours/week over 5 days, with potential hours from 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days/week
