Senior Business Systems Analyst
Cairn has a unique opportunity for a skilled and experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our expanding IT function to support Cairn's enterprise‑wide digital and data transformation programme, ensuring system changes align with the organisation's transformation roadmap.
Role Overview
The Senior Business Systems Analyst will support Cairn's digital and data transformation across the enterprise. This role works closely with our application development partners, project teams, commercial functions, and subject matter experts to translate operational needs into clear system requirements and user stories. The ideal candidate brings experience in large transformation programs within construction or related project‑based industries, with a strong understanding of field operations, procurement, scheduling, and financial controls. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements
* Provide insights into existing workflows across field operations, procurement, scheduling, and financial controls to inform system changes.
* Lead analysis to identify and document detailed user stories, functional requirements, and process improvements.
* Engage SMEs to define clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional specifications for system development. Translate operational needs into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional specifications for system development.
* Ensure requirements reflect industry best practices and support efficient project delivery, cost control, and customer experience.
* Identify opportunities to streamline information and data flows and reduce manual or paper‑based processes.
Digital & Data Transformation
* Contribute to the design and delivery of digital solutions that improve visibility across construction projects, budgets, timelines, and customer journeys.
* Support the definition of data models and integration requirements across systems such as ERP, CRM, scheduling tools, and field‑management apps.
* Work with data teams to ensure accurate reporting on project performance, cost forecasting, procurement, and customer care metrics.
Solution Design & Delivery
* Collaborate with IT Team (system architects, developers, and QA teams) and application development partners to translate requirements into technical solutions
* Support workshops covering solution design, user experience, data migration, and testing.
* Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and solution design reviews.
* Support UAT by assisting SMEs in their test scenarios that reflect real‑world requirements
* Act as a liaison between business operations teams and technology teams, ensuring clarity and timely resolution of issues.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Partner with business leaders across construction managers, commercial leads, procurement teams, sales and customer care teams, and finance to ensure requirements reflect real operational processes.
* Facilitate clear communication between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure the delivered solution aligns with expectations
* Provide guidance on process optimisation and best‑practice use of enterprise systems in a construction environment.
* Ensure alignment between business objectives and system capabilities across CRM, D365, procurement, scheduling, and financial controls
Required Experience & Skills
Experience
* 8+ years as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role.
* Experience working on large digital and data transformation programmes within construction, home building, engineering, or project‑based industries.
* Proven ability to work with SMEs to define detailed user stories and functional requirements for system development.
* Ability to write clear, detailed user stories for development teams.
* Demonstrated ability to run workshops, document requirements, and collaborate with SMEs.
* Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Dynamics 365 Business Central.
* Experience in Agile delivery environments.
Technical & Functional Skills
* Strong understanding of construction or home‑building processes, including scheduling, procurement, subcontractor management, and project financials.
* Ability to create process maps, data models, and functional specifications.
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with field‑management tools, project scheduling systems, or construction ERP platforms is an advantage.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Soft Skills
* Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
* Strong stakeholder management across both site and office environments.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, project‑driven organisation.
* Detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable working with diverse teams.
* Education & Certifications (Preferred)
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Information Systems, or related field.
* Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, Agile (PSPO/PSM), or Microsoft Dynamics credentials are an advantage.
