The Johnstown Estate – a 4‑star luxury resort set on 120 acres of parkland in Enfield, County Meath. Known for its award‑winning spa, fine dining, and extensive conference facilities, it is a flagship destination for MICE, incentive travel, and corporate retreats.
Role Overview
This is a highly proactive, field‑based sales role focused on generating new business across Ireland for both Trim Castle Hotel and The Johnstown Estate. The role is designed to build a strong pipeline of events and group business across key segments including SMERF, national associations, trade unions, and corporate organisations, with a particular focus on residential conferences, training events, and annual gatherings.
The successful candidate will take ownership of outbound sales activity, develop new relationships and convert opportunities through a structured and consistent approach to market engagement. This role will require regular travel, particularly to Dublin and key regional cities, and is ideally suited to a motivated individual who is confident working independently and building business from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Proactive Business Development
Generate new business through outbound sales activity, including cold outreach, networking, and client meetings
Develop and execute a territory plan focused on Dublin and key regional cities (Cork, Galway, Limerick, etc.)
Build a pipeline of qualified opportunities across SMERF, associations, and corporate event markets
Identify and convert opportunities for residential conferences, training programmes, and group events
Client Engagement & Relationship Building
Conduct regular face‑to‑face client meetings, site visits, and presentations
Represent both hotels at industry events, networking forums, and relevant business communities
Build long‑term relationships with key decision‑makers across target segments
Position both hotels effectively based on client needs and event requirements
Sales Activity & Performance Management
Maintain a consistent level of weekly sales activity (calls, meetings, outreach)
Track all activity, pipeline, and conversion through CRM systems
Provide regular reporting on:
Conversion rates
Market feedback and insights
Collaboration with Internal Teams
Work closely with Sales, Revenue, and Marketing teams to:
Align pricing and availability
Support campaigns and lead generation
Ensure smooth handover of converted business
Coordinate site inspections, FAM trips, and client experiences
Corporate & Transient Support (Secondary Focus)
Support the development of corporate accounts where relevant for event and group business
Assist with GDS and corporate rate activity in collaboration with Revenue
Maintain visibility of key corporate accounts (approx. 10% of role focus)
Success Measures
Growth in new business pipeline across target segments
Conversion of new‑to‑hotel accounts
Volume and value of residential and group bookings secured
Consistency and quality of sales activity levels
Candidate Profile
2+ years’ experience in sales, events, or hospitality, ideally within a hotel or venue environment
Strong interest in proactive sales and business development
Comfortable with outreach, networking, and building relationships from scratch
Highly self‑motivated with the ability to manage time and territory independently
Strong communication and presentation skills
Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
