Position Summary
The Team Lead – Inorganic Laboratory is responsible for managing the daily operations of the inorganic chemistry section within a contract testing laboratory. This role involves supervising a team of analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical services to pharmaceutical, medical device, and related industry clients. The Team Lead will act as a subject matter expert in inorganic analytical techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis), manage resources effectively, and support client communication while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards (cGMP, ISO and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Oversight
* Supervise, coach, and develop a team of inorganic analysts and technicians.
* Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and prioritization of sample testing to meet client deadlines.
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring in inorganic techniques, instrument troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
Analytical Responsibilities
* Oversee and participate in routine and non-routine inorganic testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, water samples, and other matrices using ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, and related techniques.
* Ensure testing is performed according to validated methods, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
* Contribute to method development, validation, and transfer activities.
* Maintain high standards of instrument performance through routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
* Ensure all activities comply with cGMP, ISO 17025, client requirements, and internal quality systems.
* Review and approve analytical data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
* Lead or support investigations into out-of-specification (OOS) results, deviations, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
* Support internal audits, client audits, and regulatory inspections.
Client & Project Interaction
* Act as a technical point of contact for client projects in inorganic analysis.
* Participate in client meetings, provide project updates, and address client inquiries professionally and promptly.
* Support preparation and review of technical reports and certificates of analysis.
Continuous Improvement & Safety
* Drive improvements in efficiency, data quality, and turnaround times.
* Promote lean laboratory practices and adoption of digital solutions where applicable.
* Ensure a safe working environment, promoting adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies.
Qualifications
Education:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
Experience:
* 5+ years of experience in a regulated analytical laboratory (cGMP or ISO), with strong expertise in inorganic analytical techniques.
* Minimum 1–2 years in a supervisory, senior analyst, or team lead role.
* Proven experience in method validation, transfer, and regulatory compliance.
Technical Skills:
* Hands-on expertise with ICP-OES, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, and associated data systems.
* Strong understanding of cGMP, USP/EP/JP requirements, ICH guidelines, and ISO 17025.
* Knowledge of data integrity principles (ALCOA+).
