The Role The role will work in conjunction with other team members in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the people supported and the objectives of the organisation.
You will be responsible for the provision of a high-quality service and will carry out nursing duties as required.
Lead the provision of safe, effective, and person-centred nursing care.
Implement individualised care plans based on assessed needs and multidisciplinary input.
Ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards (e.g. HIQA).
Support and monitor staff adherence to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and safeguarding policies.
Promote health promotion, independence, and inclusion for people we support.
Participate in audits, incident reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure documentation and records meet professional and legislative standards.
Contribute to risk assessments and safety planning.
Uphold infection control, health safety, and medication management policies.
Communicate effectively with families, advocates, and external agencies.
Promote a culture of openness, dignity, and respect.

Assist the people supported in accessing public services such as medical services, public transport and other related services.
Essential Criteria Have a Nursing qualification RNID/RGN/RSCN at level 8 validated for working in the Republic of Ireland and registered with Irish Nursing Midwifery Board (NMBI) Have relevant post graduate experience working with adults and children with disabilities and their families Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of children adults with complex needs Annual registration On appointment, Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland AND Confirm annual registration with NMBI to Ability West by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC) Driving License Have a full clean driving licence, the person appointed will be required to provide their own transport during the duration of employment and will be paid travel expenses at the appropriate rates in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge or their duties.
