Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing

We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead our well-established nursing home in Portlaoise, Laois.
About the Role:
As Assistant Director of Nursing, you will work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of exceptional care in line with regulatory standards and our organisation's values.
You will support clinical oversight, mentor staff, promote continuous improvement, and ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and cared for.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Support the Director of Nursing in the daily and strategic management of the home
* Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and all relevant legislation
* Promote a resident-first culture through the development of individualised care plans
* Provide clinical guidance and mentoring to nursing and care teams
* Contribute to recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management
* Champion a warm, inclusive environment that prioritises dignity, safety, and independence
* Drive continuous quality improvement and support internal and external audits
* Liaise with residents, families, GPs, and allied health professionals
* Assist with scheduling, risk management, and clinical governance
Your Team:
* Director of Nursing providing strong mentorship

Essential Criteria:
* NMBI-registered nurse (RGN, RPN or RNID)
* Minimum 6 years post-registration nursing experience
* At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory clinical role
* Strong working knowledge of HIQA regulations and elder care best practices
* Proven leadership, decision-making, and organisational skills
* Excellent communication and team motivation abilities
