PM Group is a leading International engineering, architecture, project and construction management firm. With a network of offices in Europe, Asia and the US and a multi-disciplined team of over 3,800 people, we deliver complex, capital projects in the life sciences, food and beverages, mission critical/ICT, advanced manufacturing, energy and environmental sectors. We are currently expanding our Instrumentation capability in Cork and are looking for a Lead Instrumentation Engineer to join our team of near 100 E&I professionals to help us lead the way on some of the largest Pharma/Bio projects in the world. This is a hybrid role, connected to the Cork office (in either our Mahon or Fota offices).
Responsibilities
Integrate as part of a large instrumentation Team on various projects as part of a multidiscipline project team
Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective solutions
Provide support to fee and capital budget proposals as required
Assemble and manage bid, approval, and construction issue Instrumentation packages in an efficient and lean manner
Mentor Instrumentation engineering staff at junior and intermediate levels, if required
Check other Instrumentation engineers work for accuracy and quality and undertake peer reviews
Requires extensive and independent contact with clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnel
Attend and participate in client and PM Group meetings
Direct and/or participate in project site visits to monitor, review and sign-off Instrument installations
Qualifications
Third Level Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or similar discipline
10+ years of formal experience in heavy industrial engineering design
Demonstrable advanced experience in the complete suite of Instrumentation engineering design services. This includes (but is not limited to) Instrument Index, I/O Lists/ Allocation, Instrument Specs/ Data Sheets, Layouts, Cable Containment, Block Diagrams, System Architecture, ATEX/ Hazardous Areas, Clean Room Applications
Proficient in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) & digital project delivery
Advanced knowledge of all applicable Instrumentation engineering codes, standards and acceptable industry practices
Commercially aware and have ability to undertake value engineering activities and implement new technologies where they are implemented to provide costs effective solutions for our clients
Commercially aware on project execution, control of budgets, resourcing and change control
Multiple office execution experience advantageous
Strong verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents
Professional approach and demeanour. A strong ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection and business
