INTERNAL/EXTERNAL COMPETITION Ref No: ******** CHEF II Permanent (Full Time 39 Hours) Including Weekends - (5 over 7 day Roster) We are currently looking to hire a Chef II to join our Catering Department here in the Rotunda Hospital.
The successful candidate will be working alongside a team of dedicated professionals.
Based in the city centre and on the grounds of the oldest continuously operating maternity hospital in the world, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across all professional disciplines and become part of the Rotunda family.
The successful candidate will assist and contribute to the smooth running of the Catering Department.
Chef II will assist with the preparation and service of meals to the Hospital at the required time in accordance with the hospital and statutory requirements.
You will be required to adhere and comply with the Hospital's policies and statutory regulations.
Qualifications and Experience: Essential:
1. Have obtained the London City Guilds *********** NTCB qualification or equivalent
2. Proven culinary, skills in high quality environments
3. Qualified in food safety
4. Have flexibility in approach to their work
5. Be service and quality focused Desirable:
1. Experience in the management of Food Hygiene
2. Experience in cooking for large hospitality events
3. Experience in working in an establishment that caters for over 200 persons Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Preparation and cooking of food including pastry.
Implementing costs control measures aiming to achieve maximum utilisation of resources Stocktaking at regular intervals and checking the quality and quantity of goods received as per specification Requisitioning of foodstuffs and materials Proper maintenance of records, including the labelling and storage of food To adhere to specification, standards and procedures as outlined in the Catering Departments HACCCP manual including Health Safety Procedures.
Ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained regarding delivery, storage, food production and service.
Comply with the catering department's uniform policy and maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene at all times.
To report mechanical defects and needs for repairs To take all necessary steps to ensure the maximum security of your area of assignment and all equipment and supplies therein To report to management immediately any accidents, fire, stock loss, damage, unfit food and take action as may be appropriate To assist with special functions as required Contribute to the ongoing development of food production management e.g. menu planning Checking for meals at all service points throughout the Hospital site for quality, quantity, and presentation To undertake training courses when required The Catering Manager or his/her deputy may allocate any other duties relevant to the post as required.
