As part of the growing team here at TLI Group we are currently recruiting for a Commissioning Lead to join the team.The successful candidate will be based in one of our office locations (with flexibility to work from any of our TLI office locations - Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Kerry, Kilkenny or Waterford). Travel to and from site will be required as needed by the role.As a Commissioning manager, the successful candidate will take the lead on all commissioning activities across all Power, Renewable & Substation projects. You will be responsible for identifying, managing, and coordinating all commissioning requirements and deliverables on substation projects. You will be involved in technical decision making throughout the project lifecycle. You will provide mentoring, support, and technical development to team members. You will ensure that all commissioning outputs meet the required technical, quality and safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the commissioning of primary, secondary and ancillary plant and equipment that form part of Transmission, Distribution and Generation Systems on the Irish Grid.Lead the commissioning and testing of power transformers, AIS and GIS switchgear, and all substation equipment.Lead the commissioning and testing of substation control & protection systems using Omicron test equipment.Lead the TLI team and liaise with the wider project teams during commissioning, switching, energisation, and other key project tasks.Maintain test records and collate test results and site redlines / as-builts for incorporation into O&M / Safety Files for the project.Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements.Prepare commissioning plans in accordance with the project requirements and relevant standards and procedures.Attend regular project meetings with the TLI project team, the client, and other project stakeholders where necessary, and address actions accordingly.Assess site safety prior to engaging in commissioning activities.Attendance at factory acceptance tests where required.Contribute to the development of Method Statements/Risk Assessments to cover commissioning work activities.Assist the tendering department as required with bid submissions.Carry out design reviews during the design phase of projects if required.Contribute effectively as part of a multidisciplinary design team, taking responsibility for all aspects of design outputs.Assist with the development and updating of project schedulesWhen required, identify suitable subcontract commissionersTake the lead with the development of in-house commissionersProvide mentoring for other team members to help develop their understanding of electrical design processes through on the job learning, shadowing, training courses, providing feedback, etc.Role Requirements:Qualifications and experience:Hold a relevant level qualification similar to HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering.Experience in commissioning substations with voltages up to 400 kV.Experience in supplier primary and secondary substation equipment (e.g. ABB, Siemens, Toshiba) and knowledge of SCADA and substation digital control systems (SCS, IEC61850).5+ years industry experienceKnowledge:Proficient use and knowledge of commissioning test equipment and software (Omicron, etc.).Knowledge of the substation, utilities, and renewables sector.Have knowledge of typical protection philosophies as applied to the electrical grids and particularly the Irish GridFamiliarity with current ESB/Eirgrid specifications & design requirements would be an advantage.Skills:Appreciation of the design / construction / commissioning interfacing requirements.Well-developed client facing skills with a client orientated approach.Commercial awarenessBe self-motivated and be capable of working on own initiative without direct supervision.Ability to work independently & ability to manage a team.Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, Organisational & Planning SkillsAbility to balance competing priorities and meet personal targets while dealing with a dynamic workload.Attitudes:Committed to TLI Company Mission, Vision and Values and Business ObjectivesSafety firstCustomer focus; Professional; Honesty and IntegrityPositive and flexible approachOpen to innovation and collaborationRight first-time approachProactive with the ability to think ahead.Package:Competitive rates of pay.23 Days annual leave.Maternity BenefitOpportunity to progress your career within a growing company.Voluntary Pension available on completion of probation.Employee membership for our LAYA EAP Programme - 24/7 Mental Wellbeing Support & Employee Assistance Programme.Health Insurance Discount.Life Assurance Payment.Participate in our monthly HSQE & Driving Performance Awards.Employee Referral Scheme.Standard industry training providedSeniority level Not Applicable Employment type Full-time Job function Engineering Industries Utilities
