About the Role: The Grand Canal Hotel is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our busy Maintenance Department. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive individual with strong leadership, technical, and organizational skills to ensure the hotel is maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and presentation. Key Responsibilities: Plan and coordinate all major and minor repair works in compliance with current legislation, always prioritizing the health and safety of guests and staff. Oversee and ensure value for money from all external contractors and service providers. Coordinate regular maintenance for all hotel equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and electrical infrastructure. Supervise painting, decoration, and upkeep of all hotel areas including guest rooms, public spaces, kitchens, and back-of-house. Carry out and oversee preventative and reactive maintenance tasks such as: Painting, tiling, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work. General repair and maintenance across rooms, kitchens, bars, and conference areas. Maintain cleanliness and order in external and back areas, including the hotel yard. Ensure timely completion of all maintenance requests and repairs. Adhere to hotel health & safety policies and complete all required safety training. Maintain effective communication and cooperation with all departments, especially Front Office, Restaurant, Kitchen, and Conference & Banqueting. Candidate Requirements: Proven experience working in a hotel or similar environment within a Maintenance Department. Experience in a Maintenance Manager or supervisory role preferred. Qualifications in one or more trades such as plumbing, electrical work, or construction are desirable. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Full-time availability and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Excellent spoken and written English communication skills. Knowledge of health & safety and compliance standards. Why Join Us?
