Overview
Clinical Specialist Radiographer Cath Lab, 11 month FTC – UPMC Whitfield Hospital. The post holder will lead, guide, and supervise radiographic and other staff to successfully manage the Cardiac Cath Lab service with effective utilisation of all resources allocated. They must be able to manage in a rapidly changing environment and undertake additional duties within the Radiology Department as assigned.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and clinical leadership to deliver an effective, efficient, quality-assured, patient-centred Cardiac Cath Lab service.
* Carry out general and highly complex Cardiac, vascular, and Radiographic procedures to high professional standards while complying with current legislation.
* Organise, plan and prioritise workload according to clinical need.
* As team leader, take primary responsibility for day-to-day Cardiac Cath Lab operations and resource utilisation.
* Ensure ongoing quality of service, customer service, and technical performance.
* Contribute to development and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines; enable audit of resource usage.
* Advise on equipment selection, purchase, replacement or upgrading; ensure accurate records of equipment service, maintenance, downtime, and performance.
* Coordinate maintenance schedules in line with clinical demand; maintain information systems for clinical data.
* Report operational issues to the Radiography Services Manager; manage consumables efficiently.
* Dispense and administer IV injections per Departmental policy; uphold patient confidentiality and respect diverse values and beliefs.
* Monitor stock levels and participate in department audits and statistics; implement and maintain QA programme for the Department.
* Maintain equipment inspection records for faults; contribute to service plans and KPIs; ensure compliance with infection control and health and safety policies.
* Support HR processes, staff training, and CPD; participate in recruitment and staff development as required.
* Engage in risk management, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement; foster a safe environment for staff and patients.
* Ensure radiation safety in line with ALARA and legal requirements; promote sustainable initiatives where applicable.
* Maintain up-to-date competencies for Cath Lab staff and ensure staff coverage through rota planning.
* Provide professional support to patients, radiographers, radiologists, and other professionals; supervise and assess training as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Radiography or Diploma of The College of Radiographers.
* Registered in the Radiographers Division with CORU.
* Minimum 6 years full-time post-qualification clinical experience in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
* Postgraduate course recognised by IIRRT.
* Ability to manage clinical and non-clinical situations; work well under pressure with strong interpersonal skills.
