Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Roof Truss and Metal Web Joist Designer to join our design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate, cost-effective, and structurally sound designs for timber roof trusses and metal web joists using ITW GangNail software. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and site teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed and accurate roof truss and metal web joist designs using ITW GangNail software. Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Ensure designs meet structural integrity, regulatory standards, and manufacturing capabilities. Liaise with customers, architects, engineers, and internal teams to clarify design details and resolve queries. Provide accurate material lists, quotations, and costings in line with company standards. Support production teams with factory scheduling and by providing clear and accurate fabrication details. Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practice. Contribute to continuous improvement in design processes, efficiency, and customer service. Assist in training and mentoring junior design staff where required. Key Requirements Minimum (35+) years experience in roof truss and metal web joist design. Proficiency in ITW Gangnail software (Gang Nail Systems) preferable but will consider candidates with proficiency in MiTek and Wolf Systems. Strong understanding of construction drawings, load paths, and structural requirements. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate work under deadlines. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Knowledge of Irish building regulations and timber engineering standards desirable. Fluent English essential Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and general IT systems. Desirable Experience liaising directly with builders, timber frame manufacturers, and on-site teams. Experience of designing in Ireland and or UK markets Qualification in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
