Purpose of Post
The primary objective of this post is to provide care and support through a person-centred approach that meets the practical, physical and emotional needs of service users, with an Intellectual Disability/ABI/Autism. To assist persons with a disability with residential, training and day service activities to achieve their highest level of functioning to maintain independence and/or to improve skills that will make them more independent.
Responsibilities
Provide care and support through a person-centred approach meeting practical, physical, and emotional needs of service users with intellectual disability, ABI, or autism.
Assist individuals with disability in residential, training, and day service activities to achieve highest level of functioning and independence.
Coordinate shift while on duty and supervise other staff under the Senior Social Care Worker’s direction.
Work collaboratively as part of an MDT in service delivery to residents.
Report directly to the Person In‑Charge and, in their absence, deputise for the Person In‑Charge, assuming appropriate management responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Level 7 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications in Social Care, Social Work, Youth Work, Teaching, Nursing, Childcare with Disability modules (or other relevant discipline/qualification).
At least 2 years experience in a residential, respite or day service setting with people with an intellectual disability.
CORU registered or currently in the process of obtaining CORU registration.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience of managing a team.
