We’re looking for an R&D Engineer – Control Systems to design and own the electromechanical control platform for a next-generation heart support device. You’ll develop the driver console, actuators, and control architecture that connect clinicians to life‑saving technology — turning complex engineering into an intuitive, reliable clinical system.
This is a hands‑on role in a fast‑moving, innovation‑driven environment where you’ll take systems from early prototypes through verification, validation, and manufacturing. You’ll work closely with product development, testing teams, and external partners, with real ownership and technical influence.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop the electromechanical control system (console, actuators, pump interface)
Translate clinical and functional requirements into robust system designs
Lead development from prototype to manufacturing
Drive usability, safety, and performance through testing and risk management
Collaborate across engineering, testing, and external partners
Apply human factors engineering to create intuitive clinical interfaces
Support documentation, quality, regulatory, and IP activities
What We’re Looking For
3–5+ years’ experience in electromechanical systems (medical devices preferred)
Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (NFQ Level 9+ preferred)
Strong experience in real‑time control systems and PLC programming
Knowledge of IEC 60601-1 and medical device safety standards
Experience with testing, verification & validation, and DFMEA / risk management
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechatronic systems
Human factors / usability experience for clinical devices
