Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide oversight and support the coordination of the Privacy Framework across the European subsidiaries. This role will report to the Europe Privacy Officer, as part of the Group Data Protection (Privacy) team. The successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to influence and lead with respect to Privacy Risk and to support the shared services teams achieve their strategic goals while adhering to the Privacy and Data Protection Framework.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a leadership role in ensuring a strong privacy and data protection culture across European subsidiaries and shared services.
Assist with the development and implementation of the Lifeco Privacy framework in Europe.
Provide guidance and oversight to the business on implementing new legislative and regulatory requirements.
Provide privacy reporting to the Europe Privacy Officer, the Lifeco Chief Privacy Officer, senior management and executive committees, and to the Board and Board Committees as required.
Support any cross‑jurisdictional projects and shared Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Assist in facilitating the coordinated response to any significant cross‑jurisdictional data protection events.
Qualifications & Experience
Significant experience and a successful track record in a compliance, risk, or comparable role.
Good knowledge of EU and UK data protection laws.
Experience presenting to, and reporting to, senior executives / executive committees and board committees.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
Ability to influence people around a common set of objectives and to communicate effectively.
Good understanding of businesses that make up the European Group.
Experience dealing with regulators, including preparing responses to requests and correspondence or during on‑site inspections / engagements.
Relevant qualifications in business, industry, compliance risk or privacy.
A strong drive for results and self‑motivation.
Fitness & Probity
This role is a ‘controlled function’ as set out in the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and defined by the Fitness and Probity Regulations and Standards 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity standards issued by the Central Bank. The company will complete prescribed due diligence to assess the appointee’s fitness and probity.
