Position SummaryThe Senior Project Manager – Global Procurement plays a critical leadership role in driving strategic, cross-functional procurement initiatives across global direct material categories and supply networks. Responsible for end-to-end project delivery—from initiation and scoping through execution, deployment, and benefit realisation—the role ensures alignment with the global direct procurement strategy and overall organisational objectives.Operating within a complex, matrixed environment, the Senior Project Manager leads transformation programs including supplier transitions, direct material sourcing initiatives, supply continuity and risk mitigation projects, process optimisation, and digital procurement tool implementations. The role also contributes to the ongoing development of the Global Procurement PMO, supports global project managers, and champions the use of consistent methodologies, reporting structures, and best practices.Working closely with Category Management, Sourcing, Supply Chain Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and suppliers, this position plays a vital role in improving cost competitiveness, supplier performance, sustainability, and operational continuity across the global direct procurement landscape.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Project LeadershipLead the end-to-end delivery of complex global procurement projects that support direct material strategies and organisational goals.Develop and manage project scopes, charters, roadmaps, budgets, business cases, and risk frameworks.Oversee and coordinate multi-regional project teams, ensuring alignment with the Vice President of Global Direct Procurement and senior stakeholders.Apply structured PMO methodologies and procurement governance standards to drive consistent, predictable outcomes.Support strategic prioritisation within the direct procurement project portfolio.Supplier & Sourcing Program ManagementManage supplier transitions, dual-sourcing efforts, onboarding, qualification, and technology transfer programs.Collaborate with Category and Sourcing leaders on major cost-reduction, consolidation, and resilience-building initiatives.Drive cross-functional initiatives that impact supplier performance, quality, continuity, and ESG compliance.Support negotiation strategy through coordinated planning, data preparation, and post-award implementation.Operational & Digital Procurement TransformationLead continuous improvement and transformation initiatives across sourcing, direct material flows, supplier onboarding, and procurement processes.Standardise tools, dashboards, reporting, workflows, and governance structures within global procurement.Enable data-driven decision-making through robust KPIs, project scorecards, and portfolio insights.Stakeholder & Supplier EngagementAct as a key contact for global stakeholders, ensuring alignment between Procurement, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and external suppliers.Present project performance, risks, and recommendations to the Vice President of Global Direct Procurement and other senior leaders.Facilitate cross-functional working sessions, workshops, and supplier/partner reviews.Build and maintain strong relationships across regions, functions, and cultural environments.Risk, Compliance & Performance ManagementIdentify, evaluate, and mitigate risks related to supply continuity, financial exposure, quality, regulatory requirements, sustainability, and operational impacts.Ensure strict compliance with procurement policies, supplier qualification requirements, ESG standards, and trade compliance regulations.Maintain accurate project metrics, dashboards, documentation, and performance reporting.Lead structured post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and drive systematic improvement.PMO Development & LeadershipMentor and support other project managers within Global Direct Procurement and cross-functional teams.Contribute to the development and maintenance of procurement PMO standards, templates, playbooks, and capability-building frameworks.Support portfolio management activities, including prioritisation, resource planning, and benefit tracking.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialThird-level degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Procurement, or a related discipline.10+ years of project management experience within Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, or Manufacturing in a global environment.Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-regional projects involving direct materials or supplier integrations.Strong understanding of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, supplier management, and category management.Experience delivering global transformation initiatives, supplier changes, or system implementations.Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA, Agile, Lean PM, etc.).Strong financial literacy, analytical capability, and business case development experience.Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior leadership in global, multicultural settings.Proficiency with PM and procurement systems (SAP/Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, Power BI, Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.).DesirableDegree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline.Experience in similar industry.Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt training.Experience with ESG, supplier sustainability, or responsible sourcing.Knowledge of supply chain risk management frameworks and strategic procurement modelling.
