EHS SpecialistThis key role reports to the Head of Engineering and Sustainability on a site where €40bn of trade passes through annually and contributes significantly to Ireland's economy, and supports the overall impact on trade, biodiversity, culture, and local communities.Role OverviewProvide EHS compliance and support across Engineering Services (Maintenance & Services).Ensure safety, health, and environmental standards are met across critical assets (quay walls, oil/gas infrastructure, firefighting systems, ramps, vessels, utilities, etc.).Promote a strong safety culture and support emergency preparedness.Key ResponsibilitiesEHS Support & ComplianceImplement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and systems.Lead by example, fostering a positive safety culture.Keep Legal Register updated and aligned with legislation.Monitor health & safety objectives via the EHS Plan.Support Engineering Services with risk assessments, SOPs, and safe work systems.Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; ensure corrective actions.Act as EHS System Super User, managing system administration and training.Ensure safety equipment is maintained and staff trained.Provide cover for Oil Zone Managers when required.Stakeholder EngagementDrive safety culture and support initiative.Liaise with regulators, state agencies, and third-party operators.Contractor ManagementEnsure contractors work safely and compliantly.Review contractor documentation and works.Support procurement processes with EHS criteria.Manage Permit to Work procedures safety activities, especially during shutdowns.TrainingIdentify and manage training needs for Engineering Services staff.Schedule training, maintain records, and update training matrix.Deliver site inductions for new starters.Qualifications & SkillsEssential:Degree/Post Grad in Health & Safety, Science, Engineering, or equivalent trade certification.5+ years' EHS experience in industrial environments.Knowledge of EU & national H&S legislation.Strong computer skills and fluent English.Full Irish driver's licence.Nice to have:Formal H&S qualification.Emergency management training (oil/gas preferred).Knowledge of ISO 45001/14001 systems.Contractor management & permit to work experience.Oil & Gas/Maritime industry background.Experience with HAZOP/HAZAN processes.CompetenciesCore competencies are: Integrity, effective communication, accountability, collaboration.Technical: Risk management, safety & emergency response, industry knowledge.Work life and Benefits:Flexible working possible at times, and the role is on site.
