Senior IT Security Engineer (Contract Role)
On behalf of my client I'm seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Security Engineer to join their Infrastructure & Service team. In this role, you will lead the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of their enterprise security infrastructure across on-prem data centers, corporate sites, and cloud environments (incorporating both IT and OT networks).
What You’ll Do:
Core Security Ops: Manage, upgrade, and configure firewalls, web proxies, and load balancers across multiple corporate sites and data centers.
Incident & Ticket Management: Oversee the security incident/change request queue, manage SIEM tickets, and engage in swift security incident response.
Infrastructure Care: Support and maintain IT/OT hardware and software both on-premises and in the cloud.
Collaborate & Advise: Work closely with external vendors and provide expert technical recommendations to the broader IT Infrastructure team.
Continuous Improvement: Manage/review IPS, maintain security documentation, and stay ahead of emerging networking and firewall trends.
What We’re Looking For:
The Essentials: 7+ years in IT, with at least 3+ years specifically in an IT Security Engineering role.
Firewall Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and F5 LTM/GTM (including upgrades and administration).
Network Mastery: Deep understanding of TCP/IP, network traffic, and security architecture.
Cloud Exposure: Solid experience with Microsoft Azure or other major cloud services.
Flexibility: Ability to participate in an On-Call Rota and handle occasional out-of-hours/weekend work for maintenance.
Credentials: Relevant IT/Security certifications are highly valued.
