ABOUT THE JOB: Harvey Norman is expanding and as part of this growth we are seeking to hire a Furniture Repair Technician to be based in our warehouse and reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager.
YOUR JOB your tasks will include: Fix and repair damaged furniture.
Inspect and assess furniture to determine the cause of damage, e.g.
driver, manufacturing, customer misuse etc., involving case goods, leather, synthetics and upholstery.
Developing and maintaining repair records and taking digital pictures of furniture damage to support the related documentation.
Perform knowledgeable, courteous and high quality furniture repair from within our warehouse, with the goal of 100% completion, including: Testing and mixing colours to find an exact match.
Fabricating leather, upholstery or frame material and corners.
Applying the correct patterns, filling dents and scratches using the appropriate materials.
Replacing any necessary parts and refinishing with the appropriate stain and top coat.
Ordering of replacement parts and disposing of damaged products when necessary.
Reporting of repairs when they cannot be completed.
Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, including all safety policies and procedures.
Evaluate damaged product and carry out daily repairs of customer owned goods and damaged product and stock items at warehouse.
Manage customer expectations and provide product maintenance advice.
Provide excellent customer service and rapport.
Contributes to continuous quality improvement efforts to improve department metrics and performance.
Maintain a professional appearance and provides a positive company image to the public.
Demonstrating the companys core and growth values in performance of the role functions.
Skills and Experience: Prior experience in repair is required and additional training will be provided.
Knowledge of basic construction and repair techniques.
Ability to match colours with a mechanical aptitude.
Skills in hand tools, power tools and digital camera use.
The ability to adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.
Clear communication and response, reading and interpreting written information.
To respond to service and assistance requests in a satisfactory manner.
Problem solving in a professional manner at all times.

Additional Information: This is a permanent contract subject to a six month probationary period.
This role will be based in Connacht and Munster.
The successful candidate will be required to attend a company induction day in Dublin.
