St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive services for people with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1968 the Foundation has grown through continuously responding to the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The Foundation provides services to children and adults, through day services, residential, respite care, and home support in the North Cork and South West Limerick region. We have day and residential services in various locations in the North Cork and South Limerick area; such as Charleville, Dromina, Newtownshandrum, Buttevant, Newmarket, Mitchelstown and Mallow, in Limerick; Ballylanders, Ballyagran, Bruree, Bruff Croom Dromcollogher, Granagh Kilmallock, and Liskennett.

St. Joseph's Foundation is a lead agency in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare for the North West Cork and the North East Cork Children's Disability Network Teams. These teams have been formed under the National Progressing Disability Services Scheme and will be based in Mallow and Fermoy.

Applications are invited for the following position:

ASSISTANT PSYCHOLOGIST (X1) - Children's Services, Mallow, Co. Cork.

12 month contract, Fixed Term, 35 hr/week.

These teams provide services from 0-18 under the Progressing Disability Services for Children & Young People (PDS Programme) and our teams are based in Mallow and Fermoy.

Purpose of the Post:

To provide a support service and enhance the service provision and research capacity of qualified Psychologists. Following induction

and training the Psychology Assistant can undertake prescribed tasks relating to assessment and intervention commensurate with

their level of competence under the supervision of a professionally qualified psychologist who will hold full clinical and professional

responsibility.

Child Services (X1):

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will join a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team providing services from 0-18 years under the Progressing Disability Services for Children & Young People (PDS Programme) The successful candidate will report to the Principal Psychology Manager or their designated officer and is responsible to the Principal Psychology manager or their designated officer.

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:


* (i) Have a Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited qualification at not less than a Level 8 at 2.1 honours grade on the QQI qualifications framework in which psychology was a major subject. OR

(ii) A Level 8 honours degree in another subject (2.1 or higher) together with an accredited conversion qualification at a minimum of (2.1) as conferring eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland. OR

(iii) A qualification equivalent to either (i) or (ii) which would allow the applicant to become a graduate member of the PSI. AND

* Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and administrative ability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

JOB TITLE: Assistant Psychologist- Children Services

REPORTS TO: Principal Psychologist

Commitment: 12-month Fixed Term contract - 35 hours per week

LIASES WITH: Interdisciplinary Team, Families, Staff of St. Joseph's Foundation, Staff of other statutory and voluntary organisations including schools, preschools, primary and acute care

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work within scope of practice, limits of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance.

Operate within their Scope of Practice - seek advice and assistance from his/her supervisor with any cases/work/issues that prove to be beyond the scope of his/her professional competence in line with principles of best practice and clinical governance.

Work in compliance with:

Professional Guidelines e.g. Psychological Society of Ireland's (PSI) Code of Ethics.

National and Area Health Service Executive (HSE) guidelines (e.g., Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, 2011)

Local policies, protocols and guidelines

Promote the local psychology services by providing relevant information to various stakeholders (e.g., the general public, referrers, staff)

Assist the professionally qualified Psychologist(s) in the process of providing training to other health care staff.

Such records and information are strictly confidential. In addition, records must never be left in such a manner that unauthorised persons can obtain access to them. On the termination of employment but before departing from the service, staff members are required to return to the Foundation, via their line manager ,all books, reports, memoranda, correspondence, papers, records, reports, files including data held on electronic files and any other documentation, and all other property, including keys, belonging to the Foundation or relating to its business or affairs which are in the possession of a staff member or under his/her control when the employment is terminated. #J-18808-Ljbffr
